It's Monday. What are you reading? 15 August 2011

It's Monday. What are you Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey to outline what you have been reading and what you plan to read this week.

The HelpJane Eyre (Penguin Classics) By Charlotte BrontëLast week I finished The Help (Kathryn Stockett) which was a great read as most of you probably know since I'm sure I was one of the last to read it! But you can check out my review here. Now I'm reading Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte) from my 100 book challenge and I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm always a little nervous with classics because I need to be in the right frame of mind to get into the older style language but I haven't had any difficulty with Jane Eyre and have found myself happily immersed in the story.

Bossypants. Tina FeyI am also listening to Bossypants (Tina Fey) as an audio book. I have never listened to an audio book before but I needed something to keep me occupied on the bus into work in the mornings. And I knew that Jane Eyre would be a bit much for bus journeys so I needed something a little lighter. I've never been good at reading more than one book at a time so I thought maybe an audio book would be the way to go. And thanks to some great reviews out there that love the audio version of this book because Tina reads it herself, I thought it was the perfect one to choose as my first audio book to try. And so far it's working really well. I definitely couldn't multi-task with an audio book like others can but sitting on the bus and listening to it works really well.

  2. I'll have to check out Bossypants (audio). I'm listening to A Fall of Giants and it makes for some pretty heavy listening.

  3. Wow I don't know if I would ever have the concentration to listen to a book like A Fall of Giants on audio. I really liked his other books - Pillars of the Earth and World Without End but haven't read Giants yet.

  10. Glad you liked the Help. I loved it too. Jane Eyre is one of my favourites so I hope you like that too. I know what you mean though. I have to be in the mood to read a classic too. I think that I just don't enjoy it as much or give it the time it deserves if I'm not.

  15. I haven't read The Help yet. It has been on my TBR pile for weeks. I will not see the movie until it's out on DVD so that buys me a little time.

  17. Hey there! New follower :) I just got Bossy Pants and two Chelsea Handler books, looking forward to some laugh out loud moments from those ladies.
I love that you are participating in a classic's reading challenge. I have some of those books on my TBR list but I seem to get caught up in others books (like many others I'm sure)

    Hope you enjoy Bossy Pants.
